    • Expanding Effective Contraceptive Options (EECO) Evaluation of the Caya Diaphragm Pilot in Niger

    The Expanding Effective Contraceptive Options (EECO) project, led by Catalyst Global (formerly WCG Cares), is designed to support the introduction of new and/or improved contraceptive methods in USAID partner countries within the context of informed choice. In Niger, EECO partnered with Population Services International (PSI) and PSI Niger to pilot the introduction of the Caya Diaphragm in the public and private sectors.

    Following introduction, EECO conducted operational research with women 6-months post-adoption of Caya. The primary objectives of the quantitative survey within the operational research were to determine the proportion of adopters who continued to use the method at 6 months and to understand the reasons for continued use or discontinuation of Caya during the 6-month period.

    The pilot and operational study were conducted from 2019 to 2021 in Niamey, Niger.
