    • Physical oceanographic profile data collected worldwide to support the Integrated Global Ocean Service System (IGOSS) from 1954 through 1995

    This collection includes Temperature and Depth Bathythermograph (XBT), Salinity Temperature and Depth (STD), and other physical oceanographic profile data, much of which is in the TESAC and UBT file formats. The data was collected as part of Integrated Global Ocean Service System (IGOSS). Some of this data was sent as radio messages from ships to Ocean Products Center (OPC); some of this data was exchanged through the Global Transmission System (GTS).

    In addition, this collection includes monthly mean sea level data derived from daily observations. Eighty IGOSS Sea Level Pilot Project (ISLPP) stations from 29 countries established a network of sea level gauges in the Pacific.
