Metadata Updated: January 24, 2025

This dataset depicts the boundaries of the Trawl Rockfish Conservation Areas (RCA) off the West Coast of the United States.Trawl Rockfish Conservation Areas (RCA) are areas closed to commercial fishing for groundfish with trawl gear. Closures may vary seasonally. Boundaries are defined by 1) lines that connect a series of coordinates that approximate particular depth contours 2) specific lines of latitude. These boundaries are defined in Code of Federal Regulations. For Trawl RCA this has been defined as:North of 46° 16'N latitude and the the 100 fm line and 150 fm line. For information on the official legal definition refer to the Code of Federal Regulations:Table 1 (North) to Part 660, Subpart D, Title 50https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-50/part-660/appendix-Table 1 (North) to Part 660, Subpart DTable 1 (North) to Part 660, Subpart D, Title 50The feature class naming convention reflects the date (YYYYMMDD) that the RCAs were published in the Federal Register (FR).
