Hello Joshua,
Unfortunately, Microsoft’s free Remote Web Access (RWA) dynamic-DNS platform has been experiencing a fresh round of failures since early April 2024 and admins are still reporting problems as of this month.
- Widespread reports of DNS‐update failures and unreachable hostnames started on 4 April 2024 and remain open on Microsoft Q&A; servers can’t reach the RWA back-end to refresh their records
- Follow-up threads confirm that the service is still intermittently broken for Server 2012/2016 Essentials—even after repair attempts or registry tweaks
To confirm it is not just from your side:
- NS-lookup test:
nslookup trigstedlawgroup.remotewebaccess.com 1.1.1.1
If it times out or returnsNXDOMAIN
, the DNS record never made it to Microsoft’s Azure DNS host. - Essentials health log: Check C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Server\Logs\NetworkHealthPlugin-DomainManagementFeature.log for errors such as
Live Dynamic DNS has encountered an internal error / CommunicationFailure
.
I hope this information is helpful.
Best regards,
Finn Dang.
