The MySQL server suddenly stopped working. We attempted to restart it, but the process took an unusually long time and displayed the following message:

The server is currently in 'starting' state. Please wait for the operation to complete. The server is currently in 'starting' state. Please wait for the operation to complete. You can refresh to check status. Reach out to Microsoft support if the operation is taking too long.

After approximately an hour, the server status is displayed as "Ready", but the Activity Log indicates that the MySQL server restart attempt failed. Below is a screenshot from the Activity Log showing the restart failure.image (2)

    Hello Garvit Arora

Following our discussion, the Azure Database for MySQL Flexible Server in the Azure portal is currently stuck in the starting state and after an hour, it was back to online state. But the activity log is not yet updated in that time.

As mentioned, we attempted to redeploy the VM, the VM comes back and you are able to start the server.
