Dear Microsoft Support,

I’ve been experiencing repeated failures while trying to install cumulative updates, specifically KB5055518 and KB5060533, on my Windows 22H2 system. Every time I try to install them (manually or automatically), they reach around 95–98% then fail with the error code 0x800f0922. and i see a message on restart contains : we were unable to complete the updates. rolling back changes. do not turn off your computer.

I have tried multiple troubleshooting methods:

  • Running DISM and SFC scans
  • Using cleanmgr and removing update cache
  • Manually installing the .msu packages
  • Resetting Windows Update services

None of these steps have resolved the issue.

This problem has persisted for about a month, and I would appreciate it if you could investigate it further or release a hotfix/update that addresses the installation failure.

My device has important files so I would like to avoid formatting if possible.

Best regards,

How much space is there? You need to increase the System Reserved Partition size to at least 500 MB.

Temporarily disable internet security/AV/Firewall during the update.

Make sure .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 are enabled. [ Open Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows features on or off]
