Trying to get custom mail alerts from azure monitor using logicapps

I need a azure monitor alert that gets my mail as below using logic apps

Customer name need to be fetched in tags with a customername

Subject Line - Customer Name : "abc "Alert : "Example:CPU utilization is high" | Sev : "1/2/3" | ResourceName : "Vm1"

Mail Body can be same as azure monitor default alert

I have tried to create a logic app and follow Microsoft documents but unable to get it.

To create a custom email alert using Azure Monitor and Logic Apps that includes specific tags and formats the subject line as you described, you can follow these steps:

1.Create a Logic App:

In the Azure portal, search for and select Logic Apps.

Click on Add to create a new logic app.

Fill in the required details like Resource group, Name, and Region, and select Consumption as the Plan type.

2.Set Up a Trigger:

Open the Logic App designer and select Add a trigger.

Search for When a HTTP request is received and select it.

Paste the common alert schema into the Request Body JSON Schema field.

3.Extract Customer Name from Tags:

Add an action to initialize a variable to store the customer name.

Use the expression to extract the customer name from the tags, for example: triggerBody()?['data']?['essentials']?['tags']?['customername']

4.Set Up Email Action:

Click on + to add a new action and search for Send an email (V2) under Office 365 Outlook.

Fill in the To field with the recipient's email address.

For the Subject field, construct your subject line using the customer name and alert details: Customer Name: {customerName} Alert: {alertRule} | Sev: {severity} | ResourceName: {resourceName}

For the Body, you can keep it as the default Azure Monitor alert body or customize it as needed.

5.Save and Test:

Save your Logic App and test it by triggering an alert to ensure that the email is sent with the correct formatting.

Under step:3 we will not be able to fetch the customername tag as alert schema[from azure monitor] does not include resource tag by default.

I was trying to get it using a get resource by following https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-monitor/alerts/alerts-logic-apps?tabs=send-email and have below queries

1.I have multiple tags to my resources, how do filter the tags with Name CustomerName and display its Value in the below image

If my Resource does not have any tag how do handle the error and still have the mail with a CustomerName as Null

3.I have tried to run test run of logic app I see below error

Thank you for your follow-up. You're absolutely right, Azure Monitor’s alert schema does not include resource tags by default. To work around this, using the "Get Resource" action in your Logic App is the correct approach. Once you've retrieved the resource details, you can access the CustomerName tag using this expression: body('Read_a_resource')?['tags']?['CustomerName'].

To handle situations where the tag might not exist, it's best to use the coalesce() function like this: coalesce(body('Read_a_resource')?['tags']?['CustomerName'], 'Null'). This way, if the tag is missing, the value will default to "Null" instead of causing errors.

The error you encountered (split expects a string but got null) happens when the expression tries to process a null value. This can be avoided by using coalesce() before applying functions like split, ensuring you're always working with a valid string.
