About:
As one of the most famous Japanese novelist of all time, her real name is never known. A Japanese woman of Heian Period (平安時代 Heian Jidai, 794-1192) has no personal name. "Murasaki" (紫) comes from a character she created: Murasaki no Ue (紫の上), the famous and beloved heroine in Genji Monogatari, the most famous Japanese classic novel. "Shikibu" is the official rank hold by her father (式部大丞 Shikibu Taijō).
