Will you, please, add notability problems and advertisement content templates to those and other similar articles? Otherwise, please consider to remove them from the Topcoder Open one. Birdofpreyru (talk) 09:57, 28 April 2018 (UTC)
:Birdofpreyru my concern is that this article lacks reliable sources and is too heavily based on WP:PRIMARY sources, e.g. the Topcoder website and press releases. If you want to quickly look for reliable news sources, I recommend WP:RSSE (a search engine, I've just created a shortcut to it). <span style="background-color:#cee"><span style="color:#066;font-family:Symbol">w</span><span style="color:#066;font-family:Segoe Script">umbolo</span></span> <span style="color:#37C;font-family:webdings">^^^</span> 11:34, 28 April 2018 (UTC)

::Wumbolo My point is: yes, there is no information about Topcoder Open event from sources independent from the organizer; but the same applies to other popular programming tournaments, like Facebook Hacker Cup, and Google CodeJam. Even worser in their case: in this article I put references to the event websites, from where I collected the infromation; while in articles about other events, that I mentioned above, there is no references to the source of information included into those articles. Thus, if you believe that this article has problems, and should be marked with the templates you added, the same should be done to the other articles. Otherwise, it looks like selective application of Wikipedia rules. Birdofpreyru (talk) 11:13, 29 April 2018 (UTC)
:::Birdofpreyru in Wikipedia, notability (deserving an article) is derived from significant mentions in reliable sources independent of the subject. For this article, I didn't find any such sources. You can always prove notability by providing reliable sources and they will be judged and taken into account. However, for Google Code Jam, I found plenty of reliable sources using WP:RSSE, and for Facebook Hacker Cup I found articles about it at TechCrunch and CNN Money. Those articles don't actually use those sources so I tagged them primary sources instead of notability. They still might not pass notability fully, so you can always nominate them for deletion at WP:AfD. I didn't tag those articles for promotional content since I feel that they contain less of it. Also, you're free to tag articles yourself. <span style="background-color:#cee"><span style="color:#066;font-family:Symbol">w</span><span style="color:#066;font-family:Segoe Script">umbolo</span></span> <span style="color:#37C;font-family:webdings">^^^</span> 11:30, 29 April 2018 (UTC)

The List of Topcoder Open and Regional Events
On May 1, 2018, Staszek_Lem attempted to remove the list of Topcoder Open and Regional events, commenting "Wikipedia is not catalog". I want to point out, that the list of events is de facto standard in Wikipedia articles about reccuring events, including, but not limited, to articles about other competitive programming and software development tournaments, e.g.: Google Code Jam, Facebook Hacker Cup, International Olympiad in Informatics. Other notable examples of articles based / containing large listings: CEV Cup, 2017–18 Men's CEV Cup, 2018 in spaceflight. I am going to undo that edit and bring the list back.
