Irene Baker

Edith Irene Bailey Baker (November 11, 1901April 2, 1994) was a United States Representative from Tennessee. She was the widow of Howard Baker, Sr. and the stepmother Howard Baker, Jr..

Mrs. Baker was born in Sevierville, Tennessee. From 1918 to 1922 she served as Deputy County Court Clerk of Sevier County, and later served as Deputy Clerk and Master of Chancery Court. She served on the Republican National Committee from 1960 to 1964. When her husband died in office in 1964, she was elected to the remainder of his term, serving as a caretaker who did not seek further election. She later served as Director of Public Welfare in Knoxville, Tennessee and died in Loudon, Tennessee.
