In enwiki's WP:MOS, some characters defined for English punctuation are specifically disallowed, in favor of consolidation with similar marks in the ASCII character set. Some of these can be especially troublesome, causing sorts and searches to fail or act strangely. They generally appear when someone copy/pastes from an unusual source, or uses a non-EN-US-locale keyboard incorrectly. It would be nice if WikEd would red-highlight these (like it does with <P>, unclosed braces, etc.) characters that should not be present, and maybe orange-highlight some others to warn of their likely incorrect usage.
