Neutrality Issues with this Page
Guerrero does not deserve to be remembered as only a "Hispanic Professional Wrestler", he deserves to be remembered as the best professional wrestler of modern times and qualifying his legacy with a term of race is an insult to his memory. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Zuul (talk • contribs) {}.

:The only neutrality issues here are those relating to you. The standard policy with wrestler pages is to explain their nationality as an adjective in the opening sentence. As Guerrero was born in Mexico but apprently became an American citizen, "Hispanic" is a more appropriate term. Calling him the "best professional wrestler of modern times" is not neutral. I thought viva la raza would translate more as long live our race. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.168.100.80 (talk • contribs) {}.

:Spanish grammar is very different than english grammar and thus not everything can be translated word for word. MrNordstrom

Thoughts
Well I thought it's Long Live The Race. Looked it up in internet dictionaries. In his DVD Cheating Death, Stealing Life he said "Viva La Raza" means his people but technically in Spanish means "Long Live The Race". Well it's reasonable of why its "Eddy", because of his real name Eduardo. People call their close friends like that and commonly it would be "Eddy". But I guess WWE and Guerrero himself prefers "Eddie". —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 203.24.100.137 (talk • contribs) {}.

:There is no definitive right way to translate all phrases in Spanish. "Lucha Libre" technically means "free fight" but that means absolutely nothing so there has to be more to the process of translating than just looking it up in a dictionary and getting a word for word translation. Raza does mean race but a race is made of people and races are generally referred as "people" in English so Eddie's take of it meaning "the people" is a perfectly logical and acceptable translation especially if we are going to include it in an article about him.

:I think he went as Eddy for at least some of his time in WCW. --128.210.80.224 03:48, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

:I think that "Hail the Race" or "Cheer the Race" would be a more exact adaptation of Viva la Raza. I'm half spanish and I may say that you are right when you say that viva means live, but it can also mean something like hail or cheers. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 193.136.19.6 (talk • contribs) {}.

:I'm latin, and the "Long Live" phrase is more accurate to translate the "Viva". This is because is used as a word to tell a positive feeling about something, but is derivated from the verb Vivir (Live). But the most accurated translate should be something like "Live the Race", but as a kind of order. In spanish the term was originally used as a desire to keep something alive, but it's also used to say that something that maybe is not tangible or actual or alive, still is in the mind or feelings of somebody or the people. So, after that, only to say: "Viva Eddie".

Eventually, an Undisputed Championship Belt was designed and Brock Lesnar became the champion. When the WWE seperated into two seperate brands (Raw and SmackDown!), Brock Lesnar formed an exclusivity deal with Stephanie McMahon (then SmackDown! General Manager). Since Lesnar would not perform on Raw, Raw's General Manager (Eric Bischoff) assigned the World Heavyweight Championship to Triple H. The belt used by Brock Lesnar to represent the WWE Championship was still the belt that had been designed as the Undisputed Championship (and still is today with the exclusion of special instances such as the current champion, John Cena, who uses a custom belt).

The World Heavyweight Championship is in no way the WCW Championship. Technically that is the WCW Television Championship. The WWE Championship is in no way a World Championship. It merely makes one the champion of the WWE. Whereas, the World Championship (currently held by Dave Batista) makes one the champion of the entire world. The belt has been through many federations and been around since 1904. It IS THE World Championship. It will not die with the WWE. The WWE Championship, however, will. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.219.130.88 (talk • contribs) {}.

There is no ONE "World Champion". The NWA World Heavyweight belt is still defended in TNA. Many other promotions also still have WHC belts. To say that the WWE World Champion belt is the ONLY WHC is ridiculous. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.76.145.173 (talk • contribs) {}.

:Ignoring the pointless dispute over lineage (I was the anon who started this thread), my main point was with the terminology involved. an anon below mentioned it...there are 2 meanings to World Heavyweight Championship. One of them has to do with magazines like PWI s a aclassification of the top belt in a fed, and the other is the actual title itself. Because of this particular fact, the statement is potentially misleading. That is what I wa sasking about, not a pointless lineage dispute.Toffile 15:35, 16 November 2005 (UTC)

It's on the 15th. Remember that the press conference was held only a few hours after he died, Chavo was, most likely, very shaken up, and mixed up the dates. Methnor 04:55, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

McPhail even though Eddy was born in Mexico and not Texas after all he is still American because his father was born in Arizona. Whe they say World Heavyweight Champ at times that refers to a championship of World title status in the wrestling world. the WHC in WWE is just a trademarked name. So it would've been his second WHC but not his second WHC® because the WWE championship is the ex-WWWF/WWF World heavyweight title. And he preferred Eddy but the U.S. Feds just anglicized it like PWI magazine does with Misterio. Many reports have stated that Eddie was found either with his toothbrush in his mouth or still in his hand, since he died in the bathroom while brushing his teeth. He didn't pass away in his sleep. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.24.23.63 (talk • contribs) {}.

He was found dead on his bathroom floor with his toothbrush in hand. While he did die of heart failure, they believe the death was instant and happened early sunday morning or saturday night whilest he was either brushing his teeth or getting ready to. This is a bit on a selfish side but Eddie's finishing and signature moves are listed in different ways compared to most others, such as Shawn Michaels and Triple H.
