Question: MODIS Average quality level

Re: MODIS Average quality level

Hi Could you check your work and reattach your plot? The one attached does not match the study region of interest. There might be some small differences in Sea Surface Temperature and quality level between the SST and SST4 MODIS products, but should not be significant. regards, Ed Armstrong, JPL PO....

Re: NASA JPL SST L4 MUR Data Degradation

Hello: The cause of the issue was a break in the production chain for the input data that took a few days to detect and resolve. And thank you again for bringing it to our attention. MUR SST is running normally since about 8/27. Unfortunately the dates of 8/25 and 8/26 are still really negatively im...

Re: NASA JPL SST L4 MUR Data Degradation

Hello: The last production run of MUR was nearly a success ! There are still some issues with the dates of 8/25 and 8/26 we are investigating. They are much better than before, but the MUR algorithm did not run with all the necessary input data for some reason. For the last three days 8/27, 8/28 and...

Re: NASA JPL SST L4 MUR Data Degradation

The last date that has a complete set of input data for the MUR algorithm is Aug 24, 2025. MUR data after that date is progressively degraded.

Re: Multi-scale Ultra-high Resolution (MUR) Sea Surface Temperature

Hi: The best bet to understand the algorithm is to review the paper by Toshio Chin et al. Chin, Toshio Michael, Jorge Vazquez-Cuervo, and Edward M. Armstrong. A multi-scale high-resolution analysis of global sea surface temperature. Remote sensing of environment 200 (2017): 154-169. We are in the pr...

JSON granule level metadata templates

For information purposes. A set of JSON based file-level metadata templates for various data processing levels is now available and would be a good addition to a future DPDG to demonstrate data product designing for a new data producer. A python notebook demonstrates how to use the templates to outp...
