JSON granule level metadata templates
For information purposes. A set of JSON based file-level metadata templates for various data processing levels is now available and would be a good addition to a future DPDG to demonstrate data product designing for a new data producer. A python notebook demonstrates how to use the templates to outp...

Re: GHRSST LEVEL 3S LEO v2.81 Datasets
Hi Eli, The problem has been resolved. There was an issue on our data ingest system side, so apologies for that. Thanks for alerting us. You can find the latest granules via this search: https://search.earthdata.nasa.gov/search/granules?p=C2805331435-POCLOUD&pg[0][v]=f&pg[0][gsk]=-start_date...

Re: Different Chunking in MUR SST
Thanks for the feedback on the GeoTIFF applications. We do have long range plans to update the coordinate variables (time, lat, lon) to doubles in our data model. When we designed this model in the early 2000s file size was still an issue so we went with floats vs doubles. Now it is less an issue bu...

Re: Different Chunking in MUR SST
Hi Amiee, Thanks for this in depth analysis! We are aware that the chunking changes for certain dates and have it our roadmap to reprocess to ensure consistency but right now the resources of the MUR processing system dont allow us to tackle that. They were probably changed mid-stream due to misunde...

Re: Level-2 format change?
Hi Don, Hijacking this thread a bit on behalf of the PODAAC. We received no notification of these changes and our software systems broke. Specifically the change from the dimension 'pixel_control_points' to 'pixels_per_line' in the latitude/longitude variables is the issue. Currently there are no Aq...

Re: MODIS AMSR-2 same time, same place SST can vary by 10 degrees
Thanks for the update. I'll take a look at the individual granules but I am on conference travel this week so please keep in mind that it might take day or two. Also you are aware there are significant pixel size differences between these two products, 1 km vs 0.25 decimal degrees, but I would agree...

Re: MODIS AMSR-2 same time, same place SST can vary by 10 degrees
Hi xizhilang, In order to understand the problem I would need to know the exact granules you are using for the comparison. But I suspect that perhaps the SST values are not flagged properly. You should only compare variable sea_surface_temperature pixel values where the quality_level variable is gre...

Re: Subsetting MUR-JPL-L4-GLOB-v4.1 data?
Also this granule from 2023 has no OPeNDAP link which is the service used for subsetting, so it will not work with the downloader. Investigating.

Hi Gabriel,
I did confirm we have missing granules for Feb 20-21, 2021. We will try to recreate those. Investigating the other dates.

Ed
