generating POC L3 products
I would like to reproduce the generation of standard NASA L3 POC products for SeaWiFS, MODIS Aqua, and VIIRS. Can someone walk me through or point me to a document that the steps through producing the daily products from L2 data, and then making the monthly products? I am interested in the SEADAS tools used (l2bin, l3bin, l3mapgen…) and the settings, as well as the method used when there is more than one value per pixel (mean, geometric mean…). Thanks.

Re: generating POC L3 products
Thank you.
Can you tell me specifically for the NASA POC monthly product. How are multiple values handled to get a single value in a pixel. Is the simple mean used or something else, e.g. like a geometric mean, the median, or mean of log value... Thanks.

Re: generating POC L3 products
It is a simple mean. While a bit "old" (in the sense that it was written in 1995) the SeaWiFS Technical Memorandum on the subject of Level 3 binning is still valid (ignoring any log/maximum likelihood discussions...we're using the simple arithmetic mean approach).
Hope this helps,
Sean
