GLDAS Version 1 Data
Hi,
I am interested in comparing subsurface runoff between GLDAS-1 products and GLDAS-2.1 products. Because the GLDAS-1 products have been decommissioned and are no longer available through the Earthdata portal, I was wondering if it was still possible to get access to GLDAS-1 variables through some other means.
Thank you,
Chris

Re: GLDAS Version 1 Data
Here is the pertinent information from our NLDAS/GLDAS support staff:
"The entire GLDAS-1 collection from January 1979 through March 2020 has been removed from the GES DISC system on June 30, 2020. With the upgraded Land Surface Models (LSMs) and updated forcing data sets, the GLDAS-2.1 production stream serves as a replacement for GLDAS-1. The GLDAS-2.1 reprocessed from the Noah LSM and the new products from VIC and Catchment LSMs are now publicly accessible at the GES DISC https://disc.gsfc.nasa.gov/datasets?keywords=GLDAS.
Below is the alert message about GLDAS version 001 data decommissioning on 6/30/2020, posted in March 2020.
All of the GLDAS-2.0, GLDAS-2.1, and GLDAS-2.2 data products contain subsurface runoff data. The user can take a look the subsurface runoff data from GLDAS-2.0, 2.1, and 2.2. The major difference between GLDAS-2.0, GLDAS-2.1, and GLDAS-2.2 is the forcing data set. Please find more information from the GLDAS-2 README, https://hydro1.gesdisc.eosdis.nasa.gov/ ... GLDAS2.pdf."
