Dear NASA,
I would like to study the climatology of fog in relation to fog holes occurring in some major cities located in the Northern plains of India in (2000-2020). What datasets can be used to do so? Can you help me find the data?
Thankyou for your help.

Re: FOG STUDY IN THE NORTHERN PLAINS INDIA
Kancha,
I would suggest starting with the MERRA-2 and AIRS data sets from the GES DISC. MERRA-2 has numerous meteorological variables, and the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) provides temperature and humidity data which can also be examined as vertical profiles. Below is a search URL for Dew Point Temperature from MERRA-2. There is no specific fog variable, though there are cloud variables, and the Cloud Fraction variable might indicate the occurrence of fog (but I don't know how well). You may need to define relative humidity and temperature conditions that indicate where and when fog will form.

After you examine these datasets (use the Search box at the GES DISC Web site, and the Giovanni interface), it may be possible to provide additional guidance.
