Problem accessing L2 browser for VIIRS and AQUA download
Greetings
We use NASA data (AQUA, VIIRS, VIIRSJ) in our CMEMS MULTI products for Mediterranean and Black Sea. Our code uses the Level 2 Browser (https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/cgi/browse.pl) for selecting the granules for these basins before downloading them. But since 2024-07-09 we received a HTTP 404 Not Found Error when we run the code from our cloud server. However, the code works when we run it on a local machine. Is there any problem with the Level-2 Browser access?

In another post, I saw that this was being decommissioned. I believe you will need to create subscriptions for your areas of interest and then you can download these based on the subscription number. see this link for more information.

I would love it if they continued to provide the satellite track images as I use them on my status page to determine if the satellite has passed over the area of interest.

Hi,
The L1/L2 browser is not working for me. I get a 404 error at this link:
https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/cgi/browse.pl?sen=amod
I have tried Firefox and Chrome. Someone mentioned this is being decommissioned? If so, how to spatially subset historical L2 data? I do use subscriptions for recent data. Thanks.

Re: Problem accessing L2 browser for VIIRS and AQUA download
Sorry for the delay. We had an issue with the way that the L1/L2 browser was being run from one of our servers, which should now be resolved. Please let me know if https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/cgi/browse.pl continues to 404 for you.
We do eventually intend to discontinue the L1/L2 browser, but this was an unrelated issue. By the way, we are also working on an alternative way of displaying the satellite's ground track, because that's a commonly used feature.
