Help! (viewing kml file)
Help! (viewing kml file)
Hi! I am trying to do a presentation including a subset in kml form of the above ground biomass and carbon data downloaded from the spatial data access tool. Everything was working great for weeks and I could view the data properly but now every time I load the file it shows up with the dreaded google earth red X's and I'm unable to view the spatial data access tool map on the website itself so I can't re download the data. All that shows for me is a red screen. Is there any fix for this?
I've tried opening the kml file and the spatial data access tool on other laptops and had the same issue on both of them
My presentation is later today please help!

@thelake78,
Can you please provide the name of the data and/or links to the download tool for the data you are using?
That way, we can better assist you in redirecting your issue to the appropriate data provider.
Thank you,

Yes, here's the link to the site https://webmap.ornl.gov/ogc/dataset.jsp?ds_id=1161
I was using a downloaded subset of data in northern california but every time I go to the page I linked the mapping application is just a red screen.

Re: Help! (viewing kml file)
Were you signed in? I see a button that says you have to be signed in to get the map to display.
Re: Help! (viewing kml file)
Yeah I was, and I had already downloaded the file and it was working fine yesterday morning. When I first downloaded it from that map even when you weren't signed in you could see all the data sets. You just had to sign in to download them.
Looks like it might be an actual issue with the application if you are getting a red screen too.

Thanks for confirming. I've added a tag for ORNL to help take a look. Hopefully they will be able to give more insight.

Re: Help! (viewing kml file)
Hi @thelake78,
Thanks for contacting us! Apologize for not addressing the issue in time to support your presentation.
A recent server change caused part of the spatial data access tool not functioning properly. That issue has been addressed. The tool should be back now. Please check https://webmap.ornl.gov/ogc/dataset.jsp?ds_id=1161.
Note that there is still a glitch with the Sign In function on the tool. After a successful sign in, you will be redirected to https://daac.ornl.gov/cgi-bin/service_dataset_lister.pl?svc_id=2 instead of the page where you were on. You will have to manually navigate back to your page after sign-in. We are fixing this sign-in issue and will let you know when it's done.
Best,
Yaxing
