Dear community,
I am using SeaDAS (v2024.5) to process OCI images. According to the instruction in the forum, I generated Rrs with aer_opt=-18.
Could you tell me the basic reference about this atmospheric correction approach? It's an iterative NIR approach or an NIR-SWIR-based approach?
I also wonder when the l2gen can support other common aer_opt options, such as -10 (for MUMM), -1 (custrom nir and swir wavelengths).
Thanks,
Zhigang

Re: support of other aer_opt options for PACE-OCI processing
Hi Zhigang,
Here is the reference for aer_opt=-18, which is called MBAC atmospheric correction algorithm.
https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/earth-science/articles/10.3389/feart.2019.00116/full
OCI does not currently work with some of the alternate aerosol selection methods (such as MUMM), as the available aerosol tables developed for the MSEPS and MBAC algorithms do not support the multi-scattering to single-scattering to multi-scattering conversions that those alternate methods (as currently implemented) require. We are in the process of reviewing the implementation of alternate aerosol selection methods to determine what methods can be revised to work with the new aerosol tables and what methods should be deprecated.
Best,
Minwei

Appreciate! Thank you, Minwei. I will read the attached paper and evaluate its performance in turbid lakes.
