MODIS-AQUA L2 (OC) predictability?
MODIS-AQUA L2 (OC) predictability?
Dear all,
Is there a method for predicting MODIS-AQUA L2 (OC - if that matters) passages over some specific areas (e.g. the Med sea)?
In our operative processing we rely on https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/cgi/browse.pl : it's a great tool (a godsend!), but it reports files that are currently processed/available, while I'm looking for a method for identifying expected passages (which then can raise an alert in case some expected passages miss, before the actual processing)
Once it was possible to "guess" these passages based on the satellite cycle (16 days): it is still applicable for (e.g.) VIIRS-SuomiNPP, but it does not work anymore for MODIS-AQUA (it was working few years ago - yep, I'm back to data production after a while)
...any suggestion?
Thanks & Best Regards
Vega

Re: MODIS-AQUA L2 (OC) predictability?
Dears,
thank you for pointing me to the overpass_pred app, but that's not exactly what I need/intended as it is helpfull in case of future passages (which makes totally sense of course) & insitu's purposes while I'm looking for a more generic method that can be applied also in the past; e.g. for bulk reprocessing (the previous function would have decrease the impact on NASA sites by reducing the checks on these systems) or for reprocessing specific day due to missing passage (like happened last days).
...any input?
Best Regards

I'm not sure I'm understanding your use case, but maybe Worldview? https://worldview.earthdata.nasa.gov/
