How to Export Mask Pixel with Aqua Modis Chlor_a Data in SeaDas

by mundus50 » Fri Feb 21, 2025 6:15 am America/New_York

Good evening in Indonesian time. I want to ask, how do I export mask pixels for Aqua Modis level 3 chlorophyll-a data on the SeaDAS application? Because I have tried to do it by cutting my study area with the rectangle feature, then I continued by checking the geometry feature on the right and finally I right-clicked on the cut of my study area but the export mask pixels menu is not active? Please help. Thank you.

Hi, this is a newer tool which works on level-2 files but has an issue with level-3 files. Essentially it needs a "Masks" folder in the "File Manager". The default level-2 file has the "Masks" folder (since the file contains flags), but most default level-3 files will not have a "Masks" folder.

The workaround is to open a level-3 file, then create a geometry, then save the file (Menu > Save Product), then close the file, then open the saved file. The saved file, which contains the geometry, will open with a "Masks" folder containing the geometry mask band. Then this file will work with the Export Mask Pixels tool. Once your file has a "Masks" folder, you can create other masks and they will be added to the "Masks" folder.

Sorry for the bug, but that is the current workaround.
