Release of GEDI L4A Footprint-Level Aboveground Biomass Data for April-November 2024

The Oak Ridge National Laboratory Distributed Active Archive Center (ORNL DAAC) is pleased to announce the release of new granules for the Global Ecosystem Dynamics Investigation (GEDI) Level 4A Footprint-Level Aboveground Biomass Density, Version 2.1 dataset. This release covers mission weeks 281 through 311 (April 26, 2024 - November 27, 2024).

Please note that there were no data acquisitions while the GEDI instrument was in storage on the International Space Station (ISS) from March 2023 to April 2024. The GEDI L4A dataset provides predictions of Aboveground Biomass Density (AGBD) in megagrams per hectare (Mg/ha) along with estimates of uncertainty for each geolocated laser footprint.

You can access the data through NASA Earthdata Search and a variety of NASA Earthdata tools and services, including Earthdata Cloud, OPeNDAP, and Harmony. Tutorials on accessing GEDI L4A are available at: https://ornldaac.github.io/gedi_tutorials
