CALIPSO data lost over South America

by boxinyu » Sun Jun 01, 2025 11:50 am America/New_York

Hi,
I’m using the product CAL_LID_L3_Tropospheric_APro_AllSky-Standard-V4-20_V4-20, and I noticed that since September 2016, data over South America appears as missing (−9999).

Does anyone know why this happens? Is it a known issue with CALIPSO?

Thanks!

Hello @boxinyu,

The value -9999 indicates a fill value which is quite common in data processing and analysis. Fill values represent invalid or missing data which is critical in order to avoid errors in calculations.

Thanks,
