MOD09A1/MYD09A1 Granules Missing from Earthdata but Available in Data Pool

by savee » Mon Jun 30, 2025 8:59 am America/New_York

Hi,

I usually consume the MODIS surface reflectance products (MOD09A1 and MYD09A1). Currently, I have implementations for two download pipelines: via HTTPS requests to the Data Pool and via Earthdata.

Since MODIS products are being retired from the Data Pool starting today, I’ve already been using the Earthdata pipeline. However, for the latest available acquisition date (2025-06-18), the Data Pool has had the granules available since 2025-06-27, while they are still missing from Earthdata.

Is there a reason for this discrepancy?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Sorry for the delay with this. Because we are down to crunch time now with the transition things are a little backed up. They are going well other then that, however. Everything should be back to normal within the next couple days. Thanks for your patience.

I had a similar question about VIIRS 16-day NDVI data (VJ113A1) availability at the moment. I suppose that their availability is also impacted by the technical transition you mentioned?
