MODIS OpenDAP not up-to-date?

I see that MODIS Aqua data are available at this OpenDAP server:
https://oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/opendap/MODISA/L3SMI/

and also at this direct download page:
https://oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/MODIS-Aqua/L3SMI/

The direct download page appears to be significantly (2 weeks) more up-to-date. What is the reason for the discrepancy? Is there another way to access more up-to-date data via an OpenDAP server (or FTP or THREDDS)? The software I'm working with cannot read the direct download page - only the OpenDAP server...

We only distribute the Refined version of the data through OPeNDAP while the Direct Access page distributes both the QuickLook and Refined data. There is typically an 18 day delay between the the two versions while we wait for all the refined ancillary data types.
