Hi these,

I installed SeaDAS7.4 on fedora 26. I made sure that seadas requirements are met (i.e., java, basch, python, git and cURL). But, when I tried to install the OCSSW.PY codes, I got the following error message:
execution exception: java.io.IOException: install_ocssw.py failed with exit code 1.
Check log for more details.

A work-around would be to install another python2.7 version (e.g. Anaconda)

Thanks Sean for the replay,

I did what you suggested. Then, I tried to install the install_ocssw.py again. Although, the tools became active,I could not process Level-A1 MODIS. I closed the software and opened it again to re-install the install_ocssw.py. I ended with the following error message, and the tools now are inactive

When I closed seadas and tried to open it to install ocssw.py, I got an error message that install_ocssw.py is faile to install and I need to heck the internet connection.

Your experience is not unusual -- persistance is often needed.

Depending on your internet connection, it can take multiple attempts to get install_ocssw.py to run to (almost) completion. The last step is often update_luts.py. If that fails you can run it manually. The chances for success are better if you install just one component at a time. You may find it better to follow the instructions in Ocean Data Science Software Repositories for downloading the bundles separately and running install_ocssw.py with the "local installation" option, or you can simply install the bundles manually.

PS -- there was a response to my report (https failures using Fedora 26 Python-2.7) from the Fedora developers. They are working on issues with the current Python 2.7.14 install and will look into the https failures when the newer version is available.
