Ancillary data retrieval using SeaDAS v7.3 no longer functional

by OB.DAACx - SeanBailey » Wed Jan 03, 2018 10:22 am America/New_York

The backend server that supported the ancillary data retrieval scripts for SeaDAS v7.3 and earlier was taken offline in late
December 2017. With the server down, the scripts distributed with these older versions of SeaDAS can no longer connect to it
and will fail with a connection error. From 22 Dec 2017 through 03 Jan 2018, IP addresses identified as connecting to this
now-defunct service were temporarily blocked from accessing our servers.

The blocks will be released on 03 Jan 2018, but the scripts will still fail as the server is no longer operational. The solution
is to upgrade to the current version of SeaDAS (v7.4 as of this writing - v7.5 is coming soon). You can either upgrade your
SeaDAS installation to the latest version (the recommended action), or if you chose, you may upgrade the "scripts" directory only.
This later option can be done with two simple Git commands:

$ cd $OCSSWROOT/run/scripts
$ git pull
$ git checkout v7.4

We apologize for any inconvenience this server outage may have caused you.

Regards,
Sean
