OBPG Data Users, several years ago, the "file_search.cgi" tool was revamped and a new "api/file_search" tool was brought online.
Until Wednesday, 26 June 2019 the older "file_search.cgi" tool was still available.  It was our intention to make an announcement prior to the removal of access to the older tool. However we failed to do so.  We apologize for any inconvenience this sudden loss of access may have cause any of our users. 

Transitioning to the new (well, newer anyway) API is simple: 

Replace "/search/file_search.cgi" with "/api/file_search"in your calls to the service. It is possible that you're IP address may have been put under a temporary block by our firewall if you have scripts that were using the search/file_search.cgi API.  These blocks are temporary, but continuing to access the now obsolete API will result in a continued block. 
Please modify any scripts to use the new API as soon as possible.  If you have been blocked, you can either wait until the temporary block is lifted or send an email to connection_problems@oceancolor.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov to request a block removal. 
Include your IP address in the email.Again, we apologize for any problems this may have caused you.
