Help with filename elements

I was using the file search API to build up a list of daily L3 chlorophyll products and came across some results with elements in the file names that I am not familiar. I have not been able to trace them back to a specific source on the site. Some examples:

S2008283.L3m_DAY_BIOS4_chlor_a_4km.nc
What does the "BIOS4" represent in the filename? This only seems to be associated with SeaWiFs files.

X2012352.L3m_DAY_CHL_chlor_a_4km.nc
What is instrument "X"?

X2012352.L3m_DAY_CHL_ATV_chlor_a_4km.nc
Similar to above, but with "ATV" added to the filename. What does that represent?

Can anyone help define these, or point me to the appropriate documentation? Thanks in advance!

Michael

The BIOS4 suite refers to a special processing used to produce a global biosphere product (ocean chlorophyll and land NDVI).

The "X" refers to cross mission compositing, and "ATV" indicates Aqua, Terra and VIIRS-SNPP.

If you want our standard L3 chlorophyll products, limit your search to "*L3m_DAY_CHL_chlor_a_4km.nc " (for dailies).
