Why do CMR and Earthdata Search report different numbers of collections?

Today (February 26, 2024) this CMR search --
https://cmr.earthdata.nasa.gov/search/collections?keyword=*&has_granules=true returns 8493 collections. But if I go to Earthdata Search (
https://search.earthdata.nasa.gov) and select only EOSDIS collections, I get 8420 collections.
Why are these numbers different?

Hello! It looks like these two searches are using different search parameters, resulting in a different number of results returned. The search in Earthdata Search is filtering down to EOSDIS only collections, however the linked search in CMR is not filtering for EOSIDS only collections. To query with the same parameters in CMR your link would be:
https://cmr.earthdata.nasa.gov/search/collections?has_granules_or_cwic=true&consortium[]=EOSDIS with "EOSDIS" added as the consortium.
