I am looking to download information through ftp://gdc.cddis.eosdis.nasa.gov but it only accepts me as anonymous, restricting the options.
How can I register to have a username and password that allows me to download the information?

You can register for an Earthdata account at https://urs.earthdata.nasa.gov/.
