The MCD19A2 V61 product features a daily temporal resolution; however, during certain time periods, the Earth data search returns two files for a single day. For instance, on February 1, 2022, I noticed two files corresponding to the same observation point:

MCD19A2.A2022032.h13v12.061.2022349212843
MCD19A2.A2022032.h13v12.061.2024226235541

Could you explain why this duplication occurs for specific dates, and how to interpret the differences between these files?

I processed both files and the results are not the same. Which data is the accurate one?

Sorry for issues with this. There were some production problems with the MCD19A2 products for the first few months of 2022. The Science team decided to reprocess the data from January 1 through May of 2022. The duplicate removal script was having some issues also. So, there are some duplicates. It is best to use the most recently processed granule. The string of 13 digits at the end of each granule ID is the production date to the second. So, in this particular case you will want to use the granule produced in 2024: MCD19A2.A2022032.h13v12.061.2024226235541
