During the review of Version 2.0 of the Data Product Development Guide (DPDG) for Data Producers (https://www.earthdata.nasa.gov/engage/data-producer-resources/data-product-development-guide-producers-v2) prior to its publication, Patrick Quinn had the following comment:"Cloud optimized HDF5?" indicating concern that cloud optimized HDF5 had not been covered in the document.

(Comment: For tracking purposes this comment has been assigned an ID of Quinn-5. The comment is about Subsection 3.1.1, titled "NetCDF-4" of Subsection 3.1 titled "Recommended Formats".)

The DPDG editing team indicates that this document was written before many of the details on optimizing HDF5 were known. The document does have some statements about cloud optimization of HDF5 for metadata aggregation in Section 3.3.3 titled "NetCDF-4 and HDF5 in the Cloud" but the coverage here is rather generic. More details should be included in the next version of the document.
