Earthdata download error

Good morning- I used Earthdata Search to specify a spatial and temporal subset of the JPL-L4_GHRSST-SSTfnd-MUR-GLOB-v02.0 dataset. The Earthdata Download app v.1.0.4 installed on Windows 11 PC says the files are ready for download, but the download stops almost immediately with the following information in the main log file:
[2025-05-05 11:44:43.625] [v1.0.4] [info] Starting a download for https://harmony.earthdata.nasa.gov/service-results/harmony-prod-staging/public/feaccb7c-682d-42d5-9875-83650f82b3cc/99851624/20250104090000-JPL-L4_GHRSST-SSTfnd-MUR-GLOB-v02.0-fv04_subsetted.nc4, with a token: Yes

I am logged into Earthdata, so the 403 error is a surprise. I am reluctant to reset the application because I would lose the subsetted data. I would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks, PC

Hello,

Do you know how many files you have already downloaded? And what is the subset region? I was able to download the two files you linked to, using my browser, but when I opened them, I did not see any data displayed in the very small subset region. It's possible there may have been a temporary authentication issue.

I would recommend resetting the application (unfortunately I don't know much about its behavior and its documentation is sparse). If you lose the subsetted data already on your machine, my thinking is that it is not a big problem to just re-download it. It's also possible the Earthdata Download app keeps track of what you already downloaded and will work around that.

Another option is to use the PO.DAAC Data Subscriber, which I can better help with troubleshooting: https://github.com/podaac/data-subscriber. But first, I recommend simply trying the Earthdata Download app again to see if the issue was temporary.
