The LP DAAC will be transitioning to the Earthdata website in June 2025. While all the same information will be available, it may be located in different sections of the new site. We encourage users to view the new website and get familiar with the new layout. This announcement focuses on LP DAAC’s news announcements.

On the current LP DAAC website, announcements related to data product releases, satellite anomalies, power interruptions, or data retirement are located on our front page under the News section. On the Earthdata website, that information will be housed under “Data Alerts and Outages". This will have a complete listing of every alert and outage across the Centers that support NASA’s Earth Science Data Systems (ESDS). The Data Alerts and Outages page will have information on each event by showing the status of the alert, the date issued, status, and the topic for the alert or outages.

Users are encouraged to visit the Data Alerts and Outages page to stay up to date on LP DAAC data releases, updates, retirements, and outages. While we continue this transition to the new website, LP DAAC news announcements will be posted on both our current website and the new website. To view an example of our latest news announcement posted on both sites, please visit the Decommissioning of VIIRS Version 1 SR, VI, LAI/FPAR, LST, and Active Fire Data Products on the current website and VIIRS Version 1 SR, VI, LAI/FPAR, LST, and Active Fires Data Products Decommissioned on the new Earthdata website.
