I am trying to download snapshots of imagery but all the images (JPG and GEOtiff) always have a ___location marker included. I would like to remove this feature but can't figure out how. Please see an example jpg attachment that shows the ___location marker I would like to remove.

By removing "&MARKER=442867.5412177616,-1596928.7634426022" from the URL, you will now have a snapshot without the marker e.g.
https://wvs.earthdata.nasa.gov/api/v1/snapshot?REQUEST=GetSnapshot&TIME=2017-09-14T00:00:00Z&BBOX=46818.674728077094,-1920227.0296211941,649683.367676837,-1394273.2299655792&CRS=EPSG:3031&LAYERS=MODIS_Terra_CorrectedReflectance_TrueColor&WRAP=day&FORMAT=image/jpeg&WIDTH=1177&HEIGHT=1027&colormaps=&ts=1748530531896
If you created the snapshot in Worldview, you would have to remember to remove the map marker from Worldview before you create the image snapshot.

Thanks for the information! I did create the snapshot in Worldview by clicking the camera icon. I do not see the ___location marker in Worldview when creating the snapshot so I am not sure how to turn it off there. I prefer the GeoTIFF format and am not sure how to remove the marker from that download - I do not get a URL with the GeoTIFF, just a downloaded file (I am new to working with GeoTIFF format).

That is strange that you can't see the place marker, if it appears in your download. But for example this appears to be what you are requesting in Worldview: https://worldview.earthdata.nasa.gov/?v=-252211.97456758044,-2004016.5514636077,1075110.9704537522,-1379944.4292654&p=antarctic&s=164.8173,-74.8632&t=2017-09-14-T18%3A12%3A41Z

So if you remove "s=164.8173,-74.8632" from the URL, the place marker will disappear. Or if you do see it on the Worldview map, click on the place marker, then click on the "x" in the upper right corner to remove the marker. (see attached image for an example)
