Hi,

I found there exist some periods that we could find MLS ozone data in version 4, but not in version 5. For instance, I could find MLS ozone data of Version 4 for Feb 2005, but not in version 5. I was wondering what causes that. Thanks in advance for your help.

Best,
Mingcheng

Hello,

We will look into your question, but may not be able to get an answer until next week. Are you attempting to obtain this data from the Goddard Earth Sciences Data and Information Services Center (GES DISC)?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I use GES DISC to download the data. Here is the website I try to download the MLS v5 data: https://disc.gsfc.nasa.gov/datasets/ML2 ... 2014-12-31. I choose the period between 02/01/2005 and 02/28/2005, but zero files found as it shows. At the same time, I try MLS v4 data: https://disc.gsfc.nasa.gov/datasets/ML2 ... 2014-12-31 , I could find the data between 02/01/2005 and 02/28/2005.

Happy holidays!

Here is the answer regarding the MLS data from our scientific staff. This is current as of 1-6-2021, as the data gaps listed will be filled as the reprocessing continues.

"The v5 MLS was first released on June 11, 2020. Because it takes a long time to reprocess the full data record, the MLS team opted to deliver the data in the forward stream first, and then begin reprocessing the older files in batches based on their own reprocessing priorities, not sequentially from the start of the mission. It appears that as of now, most of the data from 01-Jan-2008 forward have been reprocessed, but there are still gaps. Bigger gaps exist before 2008."
