Assessing Extreme Weather Statistics using NASA Earth eXchange Global Daily Downscaled Projections (NEX-GDDP-CMIP6)

NASA’s Applied Remote Sensing Training Program (ARSET) is hosting a new open, online training series: Assessing Extreme Weather Statistics using NASA Earth eXchange Global Daily Downscaled Projections (NEX-GDDP-CMIP6). We invite you to participate in this no cost training (more info below) and help us spread the word!

According to the World Meteorological Organization, the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events, including heat and cold waves, heavy precipitation and droughts, and wildfires, have increased fivefold in the last 50 years.

This two-part training, offered by NASA's Applied Remote Sensing Training Program (ARSET), focuses on evaluating projected statistics of extreme heat and cold wave events, and extreme precipitation excess and deficit events, from NEX-GDDP-CMIP6 at regional scale during the 21st century to assess regional risk.

Course Dates: September 10 & 17, 2025

Time: 11:00-13:00 or 15:00-17:00 EDT [UTC-4] (two session times are available for each part)

Register Here: https://go.nasa.gov/3GViIaK

Note: Those who attend both parts and complete the required homework will receive a certificate of completion for the training.
