Hi everyone.

I have navigated the forums for the past hour trying to find a way to download MODIS-Aqua Mapped chla product (https://oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/MOD ... m/chl_ocx/)

I have tried things like the following without success:

wget https://oceandata.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/ob/ ... ocx_4km.nc

I suspect it is a problem related to logging because I can download the data via my browser.

Secondly, if it is possible to download data programmatically, is it possible to define a bbox defining a specific area for which I want the data?

All the best,
Phil

Hello,

You can download data for a specified bounding box using Giovanni for the MODIS-Aqua mapped 4 km resolution data product. We are awaiting an update for the latter half of 2020, which is in progress.

https://giovanni.gsfc.nasa.gov

The OB.DAAC staff may also reply to your query here; I am just advising you on the potential for Giovanni to provide the service you requested. The GES DISC, which hosts Giovanni, receives the mapped MODIS-Aqua data product from the OB.DAAC.

https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/data/download_methods has detailed instruction for batch downloads. The obdaac_download.py script mentioned there has proven more reliable than wget[2] or curl.

In addition to the suggestion to use Giovanni, you can use the L3 browser https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/l3/ to place an order for spatial extracts
