Publishing using SeaBASS data

In addition to the SeaBASS information and data access link provided in the above post, digital object identifiers (DOIs) are now assigned to experiments (i.e., long-term research project) in SeaBASS. These DOIs are permanent identification codes that should be used for citing individual datasets. When a registered DOI is entered into a DOI search engine (for example, www.doi.org) the user will be redirected to a landing page website for the experiment at SeaBASS, which contains summary information and links to the associated cruises and data files.To cite a specific dataset it is recommended that at least the following elements are included, although formatting styles may vary by publisher:* PI name(s)* experiment year (or earliest year in the case of multi-year experiments)* title of dataset (experiment name)* distributer (SeaBASS)* date accessed* DOI (or SeaBASS URL if a DOI hasn't been registered for a particular experiment yet)Suggested citation format for data from a particular SeaBASS experiment:PI(s). Experiment name. SeaWiFS Bio-optical Archive and Storage System (SeaBASS), NASA. Accessed: date you accessed the data. DOI (add http://dx.doi.org/ as a prefix) or https://seabass.gsfc.nasa.gov if the dataset does not yet have a DOI.Example citation using this format:Siegel, David (1996). Plumes_and_Blooms.
