Il '''16º Stormo "Protezione delle Forze"''' è un reparto dell'[[Aeronautica Militare (Italia)|Aeronautica Militare]] istituito nel 2004, che si occupa della difesa terrestre delle infrastrutture militari aeronautiche e degli aeroporti militari, compito prima svolto dalla VAM (Vigilanza Aeronautica Militare).
 
La '''AF Corse''' è una scuderie [[Automobilismo|automobilistica]] [[italia]]na, fondata a [[Piacenza]] nel [[2002]] dall'ex pilota [[Amato Ferrari]] e diretta dall'[[ingegnere]] [[Luigi Urbinelli]]. Storicamente legata alla [[Maserati]] prima e alla [[Ferrari]] poi, attualmente si occupa della produzione della [[Ferrari 488 GTE]] e della [[Ferrari 488 GTB|Ferrari 488 GT3]]. Attualmente la AF Corse compete nel [[campionato del mondo endurance]], nel quale si è aggiudicata tre titoli piloti e quattro titoli scuderie. Oltre al suo programma principale, la scuderia supporta diversi team (in particolare la [[Spirit of Race]]) che militano in vari campionati per vetture con specifiche GTE e GT3, come [[European Le Mans Series]], [[International GT Open]] e [[Blancpain Sprint Series Endurance Cup]]. Nel 1995, a 28 anni, dopo aver chiuso la carriera da pilota [[Automobilismo|automobilistico]], Amato Ferrari decide d'intraprendere la strada di direttore sportivo. Inizialmente si cimenta nel [[Campionato Italiano Superturismo]], mentre nel 2003 ottiene il permesso dalla [[Maserati]] di gestire il trofeo monomarca basato sui modelli [[Maserati Coupé]]: l'accordo, valido fino al 2006, impone lo sviluppo, la conservazione ed il trasporto dei trenta veicoli che prendono parte alla serie monomarca della [[Case automobilistiche|Casa]] [[Modena|modenese]].
Il ''[[XVI Gruppo]] Aeroplani da Caccia'' fu costituito in seno alla [[4º Corpo d'armata alpino|4ª Armata]], dopo [[battaglia di Caporetto|Caporetto]], il 16 novembre 1917 usando come base l'[[Aeroporto di Istrana]]. Il reparto si distinse per un feroce scontro aereo il 26 dicembre, quando sui cieli di [[Istrana]] i suoi piloti abbatterono 9 velivoli nemici. La battaglia valse al Reparto l'unica onorificenza concessa ad un Gruppo di Volo durante il [[prima guerra mondiale|primo conflitto mondiale]], la [[Medaglia di Bronzo al Valor Militare]].
 
Il lavoro compiuto porta la Maserati a stringere nel 2004 l'accordo per lo sviluppo della [[Maserati MC12|MC12]] nel [[Campionato FIA GT|FIA GT1]]. La squadra gareggia a partire dall'ottava gara (quella di [[Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari|Imola]]), coinvolgendo i piloti Fabrizio de Simone, [[Andrea Bertolini]], [[Mika Salo]] e [[Johnny Herbert]]. I risultati, non convalidati a causa della mancata omologazione del mezzo, sono positivi, con le affermazioni a [[Motorsport Arena Oschersleben|Oschersleben]] e ''Zhuhai'' ed i secondi posti a Imola e [[Dubai Autodrome|Dubai]].
Il 7 maggio 1923, all'indomani della costituzione della [[Regia Aeronautica]] come Forza Armata, al pari del Regio Esercito e della Regia Marina, il XVI Gruppo confluì nel [[6º Gruppo Caccia]], che a sua volta confluì nel [[1º Stormo Caccia Ogni Tempo|1º Stormo Caccia Terrestre]] assieme al [[13º Gruppo caccia]] ed al [[23º Gruppo]].

==== La seconda guerra mondiale e lo scioglimento ====
All'inizio della [[seconda guerra mondiale]], il 6º Gruppo operò autonomamente con le proprie Squadriglie dalle basi di [[Catania]] e [[Comiso]], rientrando a far parte del 1º Stormo C.T. il 25 luglio 1940. Per l'impegno profuso nella [[Bombardamenti strategici durante la seconda guerra mondiale#Bombardamenti su Malta|campagna di Malta]] (giugno 1941) il 1º Stormo ricevette la [[Medaglia d'Argento al Valor Militare]]. Successivamente fu impiegato in Africa Settentrionale per missioni di ricognizione, caccia libera, scorta bombardieri e crociere di protezione a convogli. L'[[Armistizio di Cassibile|armistizio dell'8 settembre 1943]] decretò lo scioglimento del 1º Stormo.

Al 10 giugno 1940 vi era il 16º Stormo Bombardamento Terrestre del Col. Francesco Cutry sull'[[Aeroporto di Vicenza]] formato dal 50º Gruppo sui [[CANT Z.1007]]bis del Mag. Raffaele Orsolan con la 210ª e 211ª Squadriglia (5 CZ 1007 ognuna) ed il 51º Gruppo del Ten. Col. Antonio Marcucci con la 212ª e 213ª Squadriglia (5 CZ 1007 ognuna) nella [[1º Squadra aerea - SQA1]].
Nel 2006 la squadra inizia la storia con la [[Ferrari]], iscrivendosi al [[campionato FIA GT|FIA GT2]] e portando al debutto la nuova [[Ferrari F430|F430 GTC]]. L'annata si rivela perfetta, con AF Corse in grado di vincere sia il Titolo Piloti con ''Jaime Melo'' sia quello Team davanti alle squadre di riferimento [[Porsche]] e con la Ferrari Campione tra i Costruttori davanti a Porsche, [[Spyker]] e [[Panoz]]. L'equipaggio composto da [[Mika Salo]], ''Timo Scheider'' e ''Rui Aguas'' si aggiudica inoltre il successo alla mitica [[24 Ore di Spa|24 Ore di Spa-Francorchamps]], precedendo sul traguardo i compagni di squadra Melo, ''Matteo Bobbi'' e ''Stéphane Ortelli'' e completando una stupefacente doppietta di AF Corse.
All'8 settembre 1943 era con il 50º Gruppo del Ten. Col. [[Alberto Ferrario]] all'[[Aeroporto di Cameri]] con la 210ª e 211ª Squadriglia e con l'88º Gruppo con la [[265ª Squadriglia]] all'[[Aeroporto di Perugia]] con 1 [[CANT Z.1007]] nella [[3º Squadra aerea - SQA3]].
 
L'anno seguente è quello della riconferma. AF Corse domina il Campionato, vincendo nove delle 10 gare in calendario e guadagnando grazie al [[Finlandia|finlandese]] ''Toni Vilander'' ed il [[Germania|tedesco]] ''Dirk Müller'' l'alloro Piloti. Con il secondo posto in Classifica dell'altro equipaggio formato da [[Gianmaria Bruni]] e Ortelli AF Corse conquista il Titolo Team e la Ferrari quello Costruttori ai danni di Porsche.

Il 1º maggio 1959, la [[1ª Aerobrigata Intercettori Teleguidati]] (1ª A.B.I.T.) ereditò la Bandiera di Guerra del 1º Stormo Caccia Terrestre, acquisendone il distintivo di Reparto e le tradizioni storiche.
La Brigata inizialmente era composta dal 6º Gruppo IT, dal 7º Gruppo IT e dal 17º Gruppo IT.
Il 6º Gruppo IT, in sede provvisoria a [[Campoformido]] con le seguenti Squadriglie IT dotate di [[Nike Ajax]]: 1^ a [[Ca' Tron (Roncade)]]; 2^ a [[Ceggia]]; 3^ a [[Cordovado]]; 4^ e 64^ provvisoriamente a Campoformido.
Il 2 ottobre 1962 il 6º Gruppo si trasferì da Campoformido all’aeroporto di Treviso.
Il 1º febbraio 1964 il 6º Gruppo mutò denominazione in 16º Reparto IT.
Il 10 ottobre 1967 il 59º Gruppo iniziò ad operare dal [[Monte Pizzoc]] alle dipendenze del '''16º stormo''' che fino al 1977 aveva anche il 56º Gruppo IT di Ca’ Tron, il 57º Gruppo IT di Ceggia ed il 58º Gruppo IT di Cordovado.
Nel 1977 con la soppressione del 7º Reparto IT di Vicenza vedeva il 16º Reparto alle sue dipendenze fino al 1985: il 57º Gruppo IT di Ceggia, il 58º Gruppo IT di Cordovado, il 80º Gruppo IT di [[Conselve]] e l'81º Gruppo IT di [[Chioggia]].
Tutti i Gruppi avevano capacità nucleare sui missili [[Nike Hercules]].
Nel 1985 i Reparti I.T. di [[Treviso]] e di [[Padova]], alle dipendenze della 1ª A.B.I.T., furono ridenominati 16º Stormo I.T. e [[17º Stormo]] I.T.. Nello stesso anno, anche la 1ª Aerobrigata di Padova assunse la nuova denominazione di [[1ª Aerobrigata Intercettori Teleguidati|1ª Brigata Aerea I.T.]].
 
Nel 2008 la musica non cambia. Bruni e Vilander centrano la vittoria nella Classifica Piloti, mentre, con il quarto posto di [[Thomas Biagi]] e [[Christian Montanari]], AF Corse fa altrettanto in quella riservata ai Team. Viene invece temporaneamente sospesa la graduatoria per i Costruttori.
Il 16º Stormo I.T. riadottò il primitivo simbolo del 6º Gruppo Aeroplani da Caccia, costituito da un bastone di comando con aquila ad ali spiegate sul suo pomolo.
Il 31 maggio 1998 avvenne la dismissione del 16º Stormo IT.
 
Il 2009, ultimo anno di esistenza del FIA GT2, vede AF Corse vincere nuovamente il Titolo riservato alle squadre e la Ferrari ottenere quello Costruttori. Bruni e Vilander, di nuovo insieme dopo la positiva esperienza del 2009, trionfano in equipaggio con Melo e ''Luís Pérez Companc'' alla 24 Ore di Spa-Francorchamps e si classificano secondi in Campionato dietro a Richard Westbrook, l'unico a spezzare l'egemonia Ferrari-AF Corse dopo l'ingresso di quest'ultima nella serie nel 2006. In quattro anni il bottino del Team italiano recita 4 Titoli Team e 3 Piloti, per un totale di 21 gare vinte su 38 disputate: un record.
===Fucilieri dell'aria===
Il primo reparto di fanteria della Regia Aeronautica fu il ''Battaglione Loreto'', istituito nel giugno 1942 e inquadrato nel [[1º Reggimento d'assalto R.A "Amedeo d'Aosta"]], che fu impiegato nella [[Campagna del Nordafrica]] con compiti di avanguardia e presidio dei campi sgomberati dalla ritirata del nemico, affinché fosse possibile ripristinare le funzionalità degli aeroporti e delle aviosuperfici a uso militare.

A partire dell'esperienza maturata nella [[prima guerra del Golfo]] sino alle operazioni di peacekeeping più recenti, e colmando una lacuna che vedeva ormai l'Italia uno dei pochi Paesi Europei privi di tale componente (già rappresentato in [[Francia]] dalla [[Brigade aérienne des forces de sécurité et d'intervention|BAFSI]] e nel [[Regno Unito]] dal [[RAF Regiment]]), il 25 marzo 2004 lo [[Stato Maggiore dell'Aeronautica]] avviò un processo di ristrutturazione, sulle orme del battaglione "Loreto" del [[1º Reggimento d'assalto "Amedeo d'Aosta"]] della Regia Aeronautica.

Il 24 maggio successivo a [[Martina Franca]] sul sedime già in gestione alla Forza Armata portò alla ricostituzione del 16º Stormo come ''Protezione delle Forze'', reparto di fanteria leggera aviotrasportabile, con la soppressione della [[Vigilanza Aeronautica Militare|VAM]] a far data dal 1º gennaio 2005, con la vigilanza ordinaria delle installazioni affidata alla categoria Supporto Operativo, specialità "Difesa terrestre".
A seguito della cancellazione del FIA GT2 al termine della stagione 2009, nel 2010 AF Corse decide di prendere parte alla [[European Le Mans Series|Le Mans Series]] nella categoria GT2. La serie Europea, che vede al via quattro differenti classi tra [[Le Mans Prototype|Prototipi]] e [[Gran Turismo (automobile)|GT]], è da anni caratterizzata dallo scontro tra Ferrari, Porsche, [[Aston Martin]] e Spyker. Quell'anno vede anche la partecipazione di [[BMW]] con la [[BMW M3|M3 GT2]]. Con tre F430 GTC al via AF Corse si classifica seconda nel Campionato Team e in quello Piloti con l'equipaggio formato dal due volte Campione FIA GT2 Vilander e dagli ex piloti di [[Formula 1]] [[Giancarlo Fisichella]] e [[Jean Alesi]].
 
Nello stesso anno la squadra italiana prende parte anche al nuovo Campionato Mondiale (a titolazione [[Automobile Club de l'Ouest|ACO]]) [[Intercontinental Le Mans Cup]] sempre in classe GT2. Su 3 gare in calendario, di cui una svoltasi insieme alla Le Mans Series ed un'altra con l'[[American Le Mans Series]], AF Corse vince con il duo composto dai Campioni FIA GT2 Bruni e Melo la corsa inaugurale, la [[1000 km di Silverstone|6 Ore di Silverstone]], fornendo alla Ferrari i punti necessari per vincere il Titolo Costruttori davanti a Porsche, BMW e [[Jaguar]]. Quello Team viene vinto da una delle squadre Porsche, con AF Corse seconda, mentre in questo Campionato non esiste una Classifica Piloti.
Il primo addestramento specialistico ai futuri istruttori fu fornito inizialmente dal Battaglione Scuole ''Caorle'' della [[Brigata marina "San Marco"|Brigata "San Marco"]] della [[Marina Militare]].
 
Nello stesso anno il Team diretto da Amato Ferrari si iscrive anche alla [[24 Ore di Le Mans]], dove, dopo le non troppo fortunate partecipazioni del [[24 Ore di Le Mans 2007|2007]], [[24 Ore di Le Mans 2008|2008]] e [[24 Ore di Le Mans 2009|2009]] (queste ultime due comunque vinte dalla Ferrari), termina al quarto posto in GT2. Il battaglione concorre abitualmente al dispositivo di sicurezza di rischieramenti militari all'estero, a operazioni di mantenimento della pace e di soccorso umanitario, nonché all'attuazione in campo nazionale di misure di protezione in occasione di grandi eventi o di mantenimento dell'ordine pubblico.

Il battaglione di Fucilieri dell'Aria del 16º Stormo è sempre stato impegnato sin dalla fondazione, in [[missioni militari italiane all'estero|situazioni reali]], anche all'estero.
Nella stagione 2011, dopo il Titolo di Vice-campione 2010 nella Le Mans Series, il riscatto nella serie Europea non si fa attendere a lungo. Con la separazione della categoria GT2 in due classi distinte, la GTE PRO per le squadre ufficiali e le vetture di nuova generazione e la GTE AM per le automobili aggiornate all'anno precedente, Bruni e Fisichella, ora uniti in equipaggio insieme, dominano il Campionato con la nuova arma di [[Maranello]]: la [[Ferrari 458 Italia GT2|Ferrari 458 Italia GTC]]. Vincono la [[1000 km di Spa|6 Ore di Spa-Francorchamps]] e la 6 Ore di Silverstone, mentre agguantano il secondo posto nella ''6 Ore del Paul Ricard'' e nella ''6 Ore di Imola'', con quest'ultima vinta lo stesso da AF Corse grazie al secondo equipaggio composto da Vilander e Melo. Grazie a questi risultati Bruni e Fisichella vincono il Titolo Piloti in GTE PRO, mentre AF Corse fa lo stesso con quello Team della medesima classe. Inoltre, a seguito dell'istituzione da parte degli organizzatori di una Classifica Costruttori GTE, la Ferrari ottiene il relativo Titolo, sconfiggendo Porsche e Aston Martin.
 
Nella Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, che per il 2011 comprende in calendario anche gare prestigiose come la 24 Ore di Le Mans, la [[12 Ore di Sebring]] e la [[Petit Le Mans]], AF Corse schiera per tutto il Campionato una 458 Italia GTC per Bruni e Fisichella, facendo fronte ad una folta concorrenza che vede in prima linea [[Porsche 997|Porsche 997 GT3 RSR]], BMW M3 GT2, [[Chevrolet Corvette C6|Chevrolet Corvette C6.R]], [[Aston Martin Vantage (2005)|Aston Martin V8 Vantage GTE]] e [[Lotus Evora|Lotus Evora GTE]]. Bruni e Fisichella conquistano, oltre alle gare di Spa-Francorchamps e di Silverstone che erano valide anche per la Le Mans Series, la 6 Ore di Imola (erano giunti secondi, ma essendo l'equipaggio vincitore dei compagni di Team iscritto solo alla Le Mans Series era trasparente ai fini della classifica Intercontinental Le Mans Cup) e la storica Petit Le Mans. Con questi successi la Ferrari si riconferma, come nel 2010, ai vertici della graduatoria Costruttori GTE, mentre nella Classifica Team GTE PRO AF Corse vince per la prima volta il Campionato. Nella stagione 2010 nella Le Mans Series il team partecipa al GT-AM dove schiera due F430 e conquista tre vittorie di classe.

Il team partecipa inoltre alla Blanchpain Endurance Series con due vetture iscritte nella GT3-AM e grazie alla coppia Hommerson-Machiels coadiuvati da Bertolini e Pier Guidi nella 24 ore di Spa conquistano il titolo di classe. I candidati vengono anche sottoposti a un approfondito programma di potenziamento aerobico e condizionamento fisico, per mezzo di allenamenti al chiuso, negli impianti sportivi dello Stormo, e all'aperto, a pochi chilometri di distanza, nel parco delle Pianelle.

L'impegno più gravoso per i candidati sono senza dubbio le marce zavorrate da 6, 8, 10 e 30&nbsp;km previste nell'addestramento di base dei Fucilieri.

Ai promossi viene consegnato il basco blu di Fuciliere dell'Aria, simbolo distintivo del Battaglione. Durante la tradizionale cerimonia a ciascun nuovo membro del Reparto viene consegnato il copricapo direttamente dalle mani di un Fuciliere in servizio.

Dal 2005 presso il 16º Stormo è stato costituito il gruppo STO/FP (''Survive to Operate / Force Protection''), incaricato della conduzione dei corsi per la qualifica di Fuciliere dell'aria e responsabile dei corsi per il conseguimento della qualifica "Difesa Terrestre" per tutto il personale dell'Aeronautica Militare.

Il Reparto si è dotato nel 2009 di una torre d'ardimento, essenziale per l'addestramento dei Fucilieri nella discesa dagli elicotteri.<ref>[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GL0i79L02cs ''Le attività dei "Fucilieri dell'Aria" (Canale 10 del 3.11.2013)''].</ref> Si tratta di una struttura in travi d'acciaio, alta circa 14 metri, dalla quale i Fucilieri apprendono in maniera graduale la tecnica del ''fast-rope'', ovvero la discesa rapida dall'elicottero con l'uso di una robusta corda in canapa.<ref name=":0" />
