Dopo aver firmato un contratto per la WWE nel febbariofebbraio del 2009, Tuft viene mandato in FCW col nome di Tyler Reks. Qui vince prima l'[[FCW Florida Tag Team Championship]] con [[Johnny Curtis]] l'11 [[dicembre]] [[2008]], battendo la futura [[Hart Foundation|Hart Dynasty]], poi l'11 giugno 2009 l'[[FCW Florida Heavyweight Championship]] battendo [[Drew McIntyre]]. Lo perderà contro [[Heath Slater]] il 13 agosto.
