Le discordanze tra le fonti si potrebbero conciliare ipotizzando che in questa figura confluiscano due regnanti storici, il primo che regnò circa alla fine IX secolo, un secondo che regnò verso la metà del X secolo.

Secondo la ''[[saga di Hervör]]'' e la ''[[Landnámabók]]'' era figlio di un Erick che combattè contro [[Harald I di Norvegia|Harald Bellachioma]] e regnò dopo i due fratelli [[Björn at Hauge]] e [[Anund Uppsale]]:

Successivament ela saga riporta che govern' per 50 anni

In ''[[Olaf the Holy]]'s saga'', [[Snorri Sturluson]] quotes [[Thorgny Lawspeaker]] on king Björn:

In Bjorn's lifetime his kingdom stood in great power, and no kind of want was felt, and he was gay and sociable with his friends. Il [[Landnámabók]] ci informa che [[Erik Anundsson]] e suo figlio Björn regnarono in contemporanea a [[Papa Adriano II]] e [[Papa Giovanni VIII]], quindi nel periodo 867-883.
