When Saint Carlus Borromeo decided to enstablish a parrish in Brughé, there was a church in ruins and ancient as well as practically unsuitable accordance with the norm so the intervention of the bishop was in need. The situation was even more particular because the church housed the Blessed Sacrament. Despite these shortcomings, Borromeo started proceeding to the establishment of the new entity parish, entrusted to Don Arcangelo Biancardi. He decided the new church's borderline including farmhouses as Cascina de' Bastoni with the oratory of Maria Nascente, S. Cristoforo of Ottavo, S. Damiano, Sant'Albino, Sant'Ambrogio and S. Donato. In 1582 the cardinal-archibishop visited again the church to consecrate the building dedicated from now on to San Bartolomeo. InOn the occasion it was decided to exclude from the property Cascina Bastoni, Cascina Sant'Albino, Cascina San Donato and Cascina S. Damiano. They argued about the separation from the richest San Gerardo di Monza's parish, which did not require the payment of an annual fee to be paid to the parish priest for his personal needs and those of first necessity for the conduct of religious services. Even if it was consecrated, a better use of the church's spaces was necessary: he disposed to enlarge the church on the facade, to build the sacristy where there was the kitchen (used as sacristy), to bring the wardrobe where there was fireplace to put the paraments, to adapt the floor and to realize a Baptistry as norm.

On the occasion of histhe pastoral visit inof 1596 made by theCharles's cousin of Charles, the newly appointed archbishop Frederick, in 1596 it's known that the Blessed Sacrament and the oil used for the extreme unction were in a "tabernacle... small and wood made one", and it was necessary to adapt someother church's areas according to the canonical norms. In the meanwhile, other two spiritual religious institutions, wanted by Trento's Council bishops, took birth: Schola del Santissimo Sacramento and Schola della Dottrina cristiana. The first, founded in 1578, was appointed to get the people involved in various devotional practices and thereby increase its virtues; while, the second was to instruct the faithful in matters of faith to remove them from heresy. However, the most important event was the recognition of a portion of the relics of the Magi, that in believes was totally transfered in the far away Colonia by Federico Borromeo in 1613. In this year, on 27 May, the transfer from Saint Ambrogio's church to the parish took place under the parish priest Francesco Bernardino Paleario's supervision.

De Petri's Cronaca
Antonio De Petri (or Petro), parish priest from 1778 to 1819, took inspiration from Antonio Francesco Frisi's works, called Memorie storiche della città di Monza, and wrote a report about saint Bartolomeo's church:. He described that the church's façade was decorated with cornices, pilasters and bands with a pediment gabled sharp that befits the structure itself. It was possible to enter through three inputs, a wider entrance to the center and two minor entrances to the sides; each input corresponded to a nave. The aisles were closed by the side walls. Above the main door there was a window that provided light to the central nave. The aisles were divided by three arches supported by twin doric columns of stone with a wide intercolumniation covered by a lintel and the columns leaned on the side of the presbytery and the facade above four pilasters. There were also paintings, including one depicting the Mrtydom of Siant Margaret of the seventeenth century. This report shows big chaingings from the description of Borromeo brothers.

In addition, continuing in the description, the De Petri reports the presence of a number of paintings, including one depicting the Martyrdom of Saint Margaret, the seventeenth century.
