1080° Snowboarding

1080° Snowboarding is a one-on-one snowboarding racing game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64 and released on February 22, 1998.

Gameplay

The game plays in partially the same manner as the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series (However this was released before the original Tony Hawk game). The game was even sponsored by Tommy Hilfiger and Lamar snowboards. There are separate buttons to crouch and jump, and tricks are done with the B and Z buttons combined with various rotations of the joystick. 1080 has a total of six courses, with such names as Crystal Lake and Golden Forest.

Development

1080° Snowboarding was produced by the Nintendo game designer and producer Shigeru Miyamoto under Nintendo Corporate Limited.[1] The game was used in a promotional cartridge for the Nintendo 64. One course and character were unlocked. When ten minutes of gameplay were up, an animation of Mario would appear onscreen saying: "It's me, Mario. Thank you for playing Nintendo 64. Who's next?"[senza fonte]

Reception and Legacy

1080 Snowboarding received positive ratings from critics, and earned an average score of 90% on Game Rankings.[2]

Sequel

1080° Snowboarding was followed in 2003 by 1080° Avalanche for the Nintendo GameCube. It was not as well received as the first one due to changes made in gameplay.
