Judgment Day 2009 è stata l'undicesima edizione di questo omonimo PPV. L'evento si è svolto il 17 maggio 2009 presso la Allstate Arena nella città di Rosemont, Illinois.
Background
Il main feud per quanto riguarda il roster di Raw è quello per il WWE Championship tra il campione Randy Orton e lo sfidante Batista. Da gennaio 2009 Orton è in feud con la famiglia McMahon e sempre nel mese di gennaio Orton vince la rumble e sfida a WrestleMania XXV Triple H per il WWE Championship il quale perde. A Backlash Orton riconquista il titolo WWE in un Six-Man Tag Team Match. Nella puntata di Raw del 27 aprile Batista sconfigge The Big Show per countout e va quindi a sfidare Orton a Judgment Day per il WWE Championship.
Nella puntata della ECW del 28 aprile, la gm Tiffany annuncia che Christian difende il titolo ECW contro l'ex campione Jack Swagger che sfrutta la sua clausola di rivincita.
