I have installed two SSD drives on my laptop, now I want to merge them into one disk. I have deleted one disk which made it unallocated. Tried to press the "extend volume" buttons for both disks. But they are unable to press. How can I merge them?Screenshot_14

    Hello

To merge two SSD drives into a single disk, you can follow these steps using the built-in Disk Management utility in Windows:

Press Windows + S, type “Disk Management”, and hit Enter.

Right-click on the required drive (one of the SSDs) and select “Convert to Dynamic Disk”. This step is necessary because dynamic disks allow us to combine multiple drives into a single volume.

A pop-up message will appear, confirming that you’re converting the basic drive to a dynamic drive. Click “Yes” to proceed.

Next, right-click on the other SSD (for example, Disk 1) and click on the “Delete Volume” button. This will create unallocated space.

After deleting all the partitions on one disk, right-click on the other SSD (for example, Disk 2) and select “Extend Volume”.

Choose the available unallocated space and click “Add”.

Finally, click “Finish” to merge the two SSD drives into one.

The steps above to merge 2 SSDs might not work. Please see 2 reasons at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/backup-and-storage/extend-shrink-data-volume

    • Only the extension of data volumes is supported. System or boot volumes may be blocked from being extended, and you may receive the following error:

Diskpart failed to extend the volume. Please make sure the volume is valid for extending

    • You can't extend the partition if the system page file is located on the partition. Move the page file to a partition that you don't want to extend.
