I am currently working on .net 9 with Visual Studio Community 2022 v17.14.4. I would like to try .net 10 preview.
I have looked at the information on website: https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/10.0
I saw the information of .net10 preview below

to switch to preview channel, open visual studio installer. click the more button, update settings, and change channel to preview.

The reason why I care about the version of VS is that I am worried that the related plug-ins on VS are not officially supported and may break my development environment.
Since I saw the description on .NET 10 preview that it has been included in Visual Studio 17.14, I hope to get official confirmation from Microsoft to know whether .NET 10 preview has been supported in the release version of Visual Studio 14.
It depends on what you mean by support. Most would expect vs to have templates to support .net 10. this requires new vs 2022 workloads.
You can install the preview sdk and manually update project to .net 10, or create new project with the dotnet cli. You should be able to edit and run from vs 2022 or visual studio code.
I just installed the .net10 preview sdk on my computer. I created a hello world console project and changed the TargetFramework in csproj to net10.0. When I tried to compile the project in vs17.14, an error message appeared.
The current Visual Studio version does not support targeting .NET 10.0. Either target .NET 9.0 or lower, or use Visual Studio version 17.16 or higher
So, I think the instructions on the .net 10 preview download page are misleading. Does the release version of vs17.14 really support .net 10 preview? Besides that, I also didn't find any installation options for the standalone .net 10 preview sdk or runtime in the vs installer.

The vs team always lags the dotnet team. The preview version of vs 2022 (which I use) is still vs 17.14.4 and supports the .net 10 preview. Probably vs 17.14.4 was still preview when dotnet 10 preview was released.
vs 2022 stable didn’t support .net 9 until .net 9 was officially released, so probably the same with .net 10, which will be released in November.
if you don’t want to switch vs to preview, use visual studio code.
Dotnet 10 preview is not currently supported by the release version of VS, that's what I wanted to confirm. Thanks for the clarification. I'll close it.
