Si trova nella parte centro-settentrionale della provincia, sulla strada che porta da [[Teheran]] a [[Mashhad]]. I più importanti prodotti del luogo sono i [[pistacchi]] e le [[mandorle]].

La sua moschea, edificata nel 760, è la più antica dell'Iran.
