Quando nacque, era malata e i suoi genitori e medici pensarono che non sarebbe sopravvissuta. Nell'agosto 2014, Song ha fatto pubblicamnte le scuse per aver commesso l'evasione fiscale, sostenendo che il suo commercialista aveva trattato male il suo lavoro di carta a sua insaputa, con la sua imposta sul reddito omessa dal 2009 al 2011 per un totale di ₩ 2,56 miliardi. *Foglie basali: sono piante dotate di una [[Glossario botanico#R|rosetta]] basale. Le foglie hanno una forma intera o ovato-bislunga con apice appuntito. Sono [[Picciolo|picciolate]]. La lamina in genere è verde ed è solcata da diverse nervature biancastre e parallele ma anche reticolate (nervatura di tipo [[Glossario botanico#A|anastomosata]]), oppure anche marmorizzate o con disegni policromi (bianchi, gialli o rossi).

*Foglie cauline: quelle del [[fusto]] in genere sono ridotte ma sempre ben visibili e normalmente verdi, a forma [[Glossario botanico#L|lanceolato]]-lineare e sono [[Glossario botanico#A|amplessicauli]] (abbraccianti il fusto). La disposizione lungo il fusto è a spirale.

Alcune specie sono prive di [[clorofilla]] per cui le foglie sono colorate di marrone chiaro, oppure sono ridotte a squame distribuite lungo il [[fusto]].

===Infiorescenza===

L'[[infiorescenza]] è del tipo [[Glossario botanico#C|spiciforme]] o a [[Glossario botanico#R|racemo]] con pochi o tanti fiori secondo la specie. La disposizione dei fiori è più o meno spiralata e a volte unilaterale. I fiori sono [[sessilità|sessili]]. Alla base del [[Ovario (botanica)|ovario]] (sotto il [[Glossario botanico#P|perigonio]]) sono presenti delle [[brattee]] erbacee a forma [[Glossario botanico#L|lanceolata]]; queste in alcune specie sono più lunghe dell'ovario.

==Distribuzione e habitat==

Le oltre 700 [[specie]] di questa [[sottotribù]] sono distribuite in tutto il mondo. Quelle tropicali provengono soprattutto dall'[[Asia]]. In [[Europa]] sono presenti solamente due specie del [[Genere (tassonomia)|genere]] ''[[Goodyera]]'': ''[[Goodyera repens]]'' (presente anche in [[Italia]]) e ''[[Goodyera macrophylla]]''. L'[[habitat]] tipico (almeno per le specie a clima temperato) sono le zone ombreggiate, fresche e umide dei sottoboschi.

Le [[Orchidaceae]] è una delle [[Famiglia (tassonomia)|famiglie]] più vaste della divisione [[Tassonomia|tassonomica]] delle [[Magnoliophyta|Angiosperme]]; comprende 788 [[Genere (tassonomia)|generi]] e più di 18500 [[specie]]<ref>{{cita|Strasburger|vol. 2 - p. 807}}</ref>. Il [[Sistema Cronquist]] assegna la famiglia delle Orchidaceae all'[[ordine (tassonomia)|ordine]] [[Orchidales]] mentre la moderna [[classificazione APG]] la colloca nel nuovo ordine delle [[Asparagales]]. Sempre in base alla classificazione APG sono cambiati anche i livelli superiori (vedi tabella iniziale).

La [[sottotribù]] delle Goodyerinae è assegnata alla [[Tribù (tassonomia)|tribù]] delle [[Cranichideae]] che a sua volta fa parte della [[sottofamiglia]] delle [[Orchidoideae]] (il secondo gruppo di orchidee per importanza numerica dopo la sottofamiglia delle [[Epidendroideae]]). Questa struttura [[Tassonomia|tassonomica]] è stata definita solamente in questi ultimi anni per merito di accurate ricerche [[Filogenesi|filogenetiche]] (sia su dati [[Morfologia (biologia)|morfologici]] che anatomici ma anche [[Filogenesi molecolare|molecolari]]).
